Associate Director of Land Acquisitions

Day to Day

The Associate Director of Land Acquisitions will work directly with the Vice President of Land Acquisitions and the acquisitions team to pursue land development opportunities in multiple markets across the country by developing relationships with local brokers, owners, and community stakeholders. Candidates must have dynamic verbal and written communication skills, analytical and quantitative skills, and strong interpersonal abilities.

Expectations

  • Identify and negotiate land development opportunities. Develop strategic relationships with brokers, landowners, consultants, and other key stakeholders throughout the country.
  • Identify and assess potential development sites. Coordinate Acquisitions and Development teams to underwrite new development opportunities.
  • Thoroughly understand the entitlement process, permitting, and construction processes and work with Development team to develop project schedules.
  • Develop and form investment opinions and work with Associate Directors and analysts on Investment Committee presentations. Make go/no go recommendation to Executive Team.
  • Negotiate LOIs, contracts and existing lease buyouts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Finance/Economics, Real Estate Development, Law, or related discipline is required.
  • 3-5 years of real estate experience with emphasis on land acquisitions and development.
  • Strong ability to recognize opportunities in emerging markets.
  • Ability to work independently and react quickly in a demanding environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, organization and leadership skills.
  • Entrepreneurial and self-motivated, with the ability to work equally well in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple pursuit projects at one time, balance priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Travel is required 3-5 times per month.
